About
A logbook for the used aircraft market.
PlaneSnipe started as a private data logger and became a website when the data turned out to be worth showing.
Why it exists
The history gets deleted. So we keep it.
Anyone who has shopped for a used piston single knows the routine. Six sites, none of them complete. A listing you like with no way to tell whether it went up yesterday or last spring. A price that looks fair with no way to tell whether it was $30,000 higher in March. Pilots on the type-club forums trade tips on using the Wayback Machine to guess how long a plane has been for sale.
The marketplaces could fix this and do not, because a listing's history is not something they sell. So on July 19, 2026 PlaneSnipe started writing it down: every piston listing on Barnstormers, every morning, with the day it appeared, every price change and the day it vanished. Nothing about that record can be backfilled. Every day it runs, it becomes a little harder to replace.

How it grew
A silent logger first. A site when the data earned it.
- Jul 19, 2026
First morning run. The whole standing inventory is swept up; from tomorrow, every listing's start date is known.
- Week 3
The first honest days-on-market figure, and the discovery that the naive median was off by an order of magnitude. That mistake became the methodology page.
- Week 9
1,227 price cuts logged. Enough history to give 61 types their own page, and to open @PlaneSnipeBot to anyone who wants the alerts.
- Now
1,825 planes for sale, re-read every morning. The pages rebuild after each run.
The Snipe family
Third of three.
CarSnipe watches Facebook Marketplace for cars and trucks; DockSnipe does the same for boats. Both run in your own browser and alert within minutes, because a good Marketplace deal is gone by lunch. Aircraft move slower and live on different sites, so PlaneSnipe is built differently: one central read a day, and the value is in the history rather than the speed.

Facebook Marketplace, checked every few minutes, alerts to Telegram.

Same engine, with the engine, trailer and title facts read out of the ad.

Barnstormers, once a day, with the whole price history in every alert.
Who builds it
Built by Concept211.
A small studio that has been shipping web software for over two decades. Questions, corrections and type requests: message @PlaneSnipeBot on Telegram.
Barnstormers is read once a day at a pace that would not trouble a shared web host, and every alert and every table links to the seller's own ad there. Sellers' contact details are never stored. Sites whose terms do not permit reading are not read; PlaneSnipe would rather be incomplete than impolite. How the numbers are made.
