The PA-32 Cherokee Six market this morning
What does a used PA-32 Cherokee Six ask right now?
With 11 for sale this morning, the Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six is the 34th most-listed piston type on Barnstormers and second to the Piper PA-28 Cherokee among Piper types. 7 were listed in the last 30 days and 10 came down, a faster churn than the piston singles average. 2 of them are in CA.
Asking prices run from $75,000 to $399,000, and half of the 9 priced listings sit between $125,000 and $240,000. The median is $189,500, 85% above the piston singles median of $102,249; no other Piper type on the site asks more. Age matters: 1970s airframes ask a median of $145,000 against $399,000 for the 2000s.
1 seller cut price in the last 30 days, 9% of the live fleet against 27% across every type we track; the average cut took 4% off the ask. That is the lowest cut rate of any Piper type here right now.

About the Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six
What it is
The PA-32 Cherokee Six is the stretched, six-seat version of the Cherokee that Piper introduced in 1965, and it is the station wagon of the single-engine world: a wide cabin with a rear door for the passengers, a front door for the pilot, baggage compartments at both ends and enough useful load to fill every seat and still carry bags. The fixed-gear Six came with a 260 hp carbureted O-540 or a 300 hp fuel-injected IO-540 and ran through 1979. The retractable Lance appeared in 1976, the tapered-wing Saratoga replaced both in 1980, and the line continued through the Saratoga II HP and II TC into 2008.
It flies like a big Cherokee, which is to say heavily and predictably. The elevator is firm and it tolerates a wide range of loading better than most singles. Pilots who own one for family trips describe it as the airplane that ended the arguments about what to leave behind. Fuel burn is the trade, and so is speed on the fixed-gear versions.
Variants that matter for price
Sellers list PA-32-260 and PA-32-300 for the Six, and the 300 is the one most buyers want for the climb with the seats full; the 260 costs less and is nearly as good. The PA-32R-300 Lance is the retractable Six, and the PA-32RT-300 Lance II from 1978 moved to a T-tail that many pilots dislike for its pitch feel on takeoff, so a conventional-tail Lance asks more than a Lance II. The Saratoga (PA-32-301) and Saratoga SP (PA-32R-301) from 1980 brought the tapered wing and a conventional tail, and the Saratoga II HP from 1993 and turbocharged II TC from 1997 sit at the top. An overhaul on a 300 hp engine is a large number, so engine time moves the price as much as the model.
What buyers check
The wing spar inspection that applies across the PA-28 family applies here too, and buyers ask whether it has been done. Fuel is the next item: the Hershey-bar Six carries four tanks including tip tanks, while the Saratoga has a two-tank wet wing that is checked for seepage. The retractable Lance and Saratoga SP have a hydraulic gear system with an automatic extension feature that is often disabled under a modification. The IO-540 is a strong engine but a big one to overhaul, so cylinder condition and oil consumption get real attention. The cargo door latches and seals and the stabilator bushings are common annual items. A modern autopilot, an engine monitor and air conditioning that works add value, and a current weight and balance matters because these airplanes get loaded. An annual tends to find strut leaks, a weeping tank and exhaust cracks.
Who it suits
The Six and Saratoga suit a family or a business that needs to carry five or six people and their luggage out of a normal airport and wants a single engine's cost and simplicity. They are not fast for the fuel they burn and they are big airplanes to hangar. Buyers cross-shop the Cessna 206 and 210, the Beech A36 Bonanza (faster, less room) and the Cherokee 235 or Dakota for a buyer who mostly flies with four.

Geography and method
Where are the PA-32 Cherokee Sixs, and how are they counted?
Where they are
How we count
Barnstormers piston categories are read once a day. A listing is "delisted" after it is missing on two consecutive mornings. Days listed starts the morning we first saw the ad, so listings that predate Jul 19, 2026 are excluded from time-on-market figures. Prices are asking prices as typed by the seller. Nothing here is an appraisal. Full methodology.
